As a child growing up, I spent many happy holidays on caravan parks the length and breadth of the UK. The holiday accommodation was usually in a static caravan, surround by other riotous kids ensconced in their own statics; hell bent on enjoying every noisy pastime that the park could offer, from swimming pool to amusement arcades. As I grew older, this view of caravan sites stayed with me and any attempt to entice me into a static caravan was sternly met with “been there, done that, got the t-shirt – no thanks”
Only when I moved back to the Lakes and circumstances dictated that i needed to carry on in the workaday world, thus taking a position at Kendal Caravans (the major dealership for static holiday homes in the North West and Lakes area) did I realise that the noisy, kid-filled holiday parks of my youth were a far cry from the reality of the joys that can be had from owning a static holiday retreat in some of the most stunning parts of the country.
